Hi Clay,
Unfortunately, it’s a more intensive process than simply giving someone permission to upload a document. It requires a system to be put into place, permissions to be granted, and likely a great deal of custom code writing. We should have a solid plan with the long-term in mind, rather than a quick fix that leaves room for error and isn’t sustainable. It will take time, but not to worry, Iain and I have already started discussions around this topic. It’s a priority. Thanks.
Hi Ann,
I understand that the custom code will take some time, so can you tell us what procedure you want us to use until it is done?
Hi Bob,
To my knowledge, 4 people have been working on live timing and are continuing to make progress: Jon Kuo, Jeff Hurckes, Michael Mai, and Iain. Feel free to reach out to those guys if you have questions. I’m a better resource for things like how the site looks, and leave the complex feature adds to other folks with expertise.
In the interim, we already have a process in place for posting results, and make our best attempt to do so the day after the event. Results can be found on the Results page.
Thanks,
AnnIs there a way for a user to mark all the posts as having been read? The site indicates that all the sections have New Posts in them, but it appears that the only way to clear them is to actually open each one.
Also, would you consider a larger font and/or something with a bit more screen contrast? On my display, the font is quite tiny and faded gray. If there’s a way for each user to customize that, I can’t find that, either.
I would also like this option. I have several sections which are showing a “New”, but there are no new posts and nothing I do will clear the “New” flag.
Ken, hit the refresh button on your browser and the “New “goes away. Mine does that too.
Thanks Mark, but I tried that. It doesn’t work on mine for several sections, but other sections seem to be fine. Even after logging off and back on, they still say “New”.
FYI: for those who’ve noticed, we’ve disabled the “NEW” badges for the forums. After a trial period, they do not provide much added value, and they can become annoying if you don’t read every single new post. We have the ability to turn this feature back on, but, until we have time to fine tune it and add some more parameters that make it more valuable, like perhaps “show NEW badge if I haven’t viewed a post AND it’s been posted within the last 24 hours”, it’s disabled.
