Hello all,

I am fairly new to Colorado Springs and just recently found out about autocross. What should I do if I’m really interested? Is there anyone that is willing to maybe let me do a ride along so I can experience it as a passenger first hand? Or just tips, really interested, any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Welcome to the area!

The best advice I can give is to keep an eye on the website for the 2024 event schedule. Then register and come out. You can run pretty much anything (not trucks or most SUVs).

Don’t worry about things like classing, numbers and helmet your first event. Just let some folks know when you get there it’s your first event. They will be happy to help!

Most would be happy to have you ride-along with them. Instructors usually are avail to ride with you in your car to help with your runs.

Hello Members,

Based on this rule, what is the minimum weight requirement in lbs. for my 2000 Audi S4 2.7L AWD twin-turbo car in the Modified category?
There is a formula in the Prepared section, but I don’t think it applies here.

18.0.B. Engine Classifications
1. Four-stroke cycle and two-stroke cycle, naturally aspirated, internal
combustion engines will be classified on the basis of actual piston
displacement.
2. Rotary Engines (Wankel) – These units will be classified on the basis
of a piston displacement equivalent to 1.6 times (1.6 ×) the volume
determined by the difference between the maximum and minimum
capacity of the working chamber, times the number of rotors.
3. Turbocharged or supercharged versions of the above engines will be
classified on a basis of 1.4 times (1.4 ×) the computed displacement.

Core Modifications
• Chassis and suspension customization.
• Unconstrained automotive-based powertrain (varies among the individual
classes).
• Minimum weights generally based on displacement.

Hi Zoltan, I assume you’re asking about street modified. For a turbo 2.7L, you’d add 1.4L to the displacement to get 4.1L for the class calculation, 1800 lbs + 300*displacement, or in this case 200*4.1, to get 3030 lbs for the minimum weight. If you’re on 275 mm or less tires, subtract 200 to get 2830.
