Hi all.. is it too late to register for this weekend’s event? I’ve followed autocross casually for a few years and finally would like to enter an event.
I have a Tesla, a Model 3.. other than the novice index, is there an EV class or otherwise? It’s completely stock including tires for now.. what class would that be?
I do not have a helmet yet.. is there one available for rental? Trying to determine if this is something I’d like to regularly do. Other than that is it as easy as register and show up and you guys can guide me through the process?
How do I get my volunteer hours in?
thanks
The Tesla Model 3 is listed as D Street, so that is the class and PAX index you should choose when you register. There are loaner helmets available, you can sign up for different choices as to working, but if it is early in your autocross addiction, sign up to work course – you get the best view of what is going on.
Be prepared to be hooked for life! Do not be afraid to ask to ride with people if you can before your runs, and absolutely do not be afraid to ask someone to ride with you if you are concerned about finding the course!
Matt
You can still register, just go to this link – https://www.rmsolo.org/schedule/ and go down to event #7 (Sunday). Just press the “Register” button. You may want to attend the Starting Line school on Saturday too.
Matt/Ken, thanks for your help, I was able to successfully register. I signed up for either corner worker or grid worker. Looking at the schedule it looks like 6:30am is crew call.. should I plan to be there at 6:30am?
Anything else I should know? looking forward to attending, sunscreen in tow 🙂
Actually I have two questions: Around what time is the event over.. and I read there may be a food truck/food available sometimes?
Yes, crew call is at 6:30, but if you are not doing course setup, you can show up a bit later. Check in closes at 8:00 so you need to be there earlier than 8:00 to get checked in. Work assignments are assigned at check in and the good jobs go fast, so check in early. The course usually opens for walking at 7:30, so you should be on site by then. There will be a novice course walk where you can get a bit of an autocrossing education.
There is usually a food truck on site and Jeff will send out a note in the unusual event they cancel for some reason. The end of the even is a bit variable, but I would guess somewhere around 4PM give or take an hour or so.
okay thanks Ken!
