    I’ve seen/heard of people doing this for a long time, I believe mostly to decrease the ride height on Stock/Street class cars. However, this video from Ohlins shows an alarming amount of cavitation occurring when the gas pressure is released. I would imagine the cavitation would make the damping inconsistent at different speeds, so why do so many people run degassed shocks?

    Good question!  I don’t have an answer 🙂  I’ve had a single rear shock lose pressure on both of my CM cars and, in both cases, the car became evil to drive.  Turning was hugely inconsistent, from ugly push to snappy loose.  I never degassed any of the shocks on my stock class cars and I think I’m glad I didn’t.  But, yeah, I’ve heard of others doing it but never thought it made sense???
