Having had discussions with the club members based on frequent feedback and requests over the past two years, the Chiefs have decided that starting with the 2020 Summer Series, there will be classing changes.
The national Street Prepared, Street Modified, Prepared, and Modified classing categories will be simplified for RMSolo events.
Street Prepared and Street Modified cars will now be classed into the “S” class. This will be a combined index class, such as how we run our local W or X class (although unlike X class, all runs will count).
Likewise, Prepared and Modified will now be classed into the “PM” class. This will be a combined index class, such as how we run our local W or X class (although unlike X class, all runs will count).
Instead of running the normal national class letters, cars in these classes should run either “s” or “pm” as the class letters.
The feedback that we got from the membership is that there are too many classes at these preparation levels, which dilutes the competition. More competition is seen as a benefit to our events, and something that raises the enjoyment level. The reason for maintaining the split between SP/SM and P/M is that SP/SM and P/M have similar tire allowances, thus are expected to be similarly affected by event conditions over the course of a season.
