Continental Divide SCCA Partners With AUSA To Pursue Military Site for RMSolo
Names Pikes Peak Chapter, Association of the US Army (AUSA) our 2020 Charitable Recipient
In September of 2019, SCCA CDR reached out to the Colorado Springs military community to inquire about staging RMSolo events at National Championship-quality sites on post. Those discussions, once delayed by the shutdown, are now both proceeding and promising.
Our efforts are focused on the Arrival/Departure Air Control Group (A/DACG) site, located on the southeast corner of the Colorado Springs Airport. It measures 650′ by 2000′ and the surface appears suitable for national-quality competition. It is our hope that RMSolo can benefit military families by engaging them in our program, as well as bring an SCCA Solo National Tour event back to Colorado Springs.
A/DACG is also the site of the annual Pikes Peak Regional Air Show, whose promotional flyer contains maps and parking info.
Our partner in this venture has been the Pikes Peak Chapter of the Association of the US Army (AUSA), who enthusiastically embraced our proposal as part of their Educate/Inform/Connect (EIC) program to benefit military families. They have led the charge for us with the leadership of the 21st Space Wing, Peterson AFB and Fort Carson, making connections, navigating our path and guiding our message.
For their tireless commitment to military families and their energetic support of SCCA RMSolo, the Pikes Peak Chapter of AUSA has been named as the recipient of our annual Axis vs. Allies doubleheader charitable effort.
You can donate to the AUSA and receive an emailed tax receipt by clicking the “Donate” button at the top of the page here. Please enter “SCCA” in the “Add Special Instructions To The Seller” field. You can also bring a check made out to AUSA, or cash, with you on Saturday or Sunday.
Please give generously to help those who are helping us, as well as supporting our troops!
